How do you charge a rechargeable xbox 360 controller?

When I try to charge my rechargeable xbox 360 controller with it plugged in all I see is a red dot on the charger. I have kept the charger in for at least 5 days but all is the same. Just 1 red dot on the charger. The controller wont come on eather. So how do I charge it w/ the rechargeable battery kit?

The controller is not necessarily broken. Have you tried the controller with standard AA batteries? Do you have the battery pack inserted correctly? Do you even have the battery pack in there? If you do then I suggest using AA batteries to see if the controller works. If it does then you probably need a new battery pack. If not then you probably need a new controller.
